The best Aaron Judge rookie cards, ranked (2026 prices)

The Aaron Judge cards worth chasing, from 2017 Topps #287 and Topps Chrome #169 to his 2013 Bowman Chrome autos, with 2026 sold prices and PSA pops.

By MLBTSDB · October 4, 2026 · Prices as of October 3, 2026

Aaron Judge is the Yankees' captain and the defining slugger of his era. New York drafted him 32nd overall in 2013, he debuted on August 13, 2016, and in 2017 he hit 52 home runs, then a rookie record, and won AL Rookie of the Year unanimously. In 2022 he hit 62, breaking Roger Maris's American League record, and he has won three AL MVP awards (2022, 2024 and 2025).

That debut date explains his rookie-card year. Judge reached the majors late in 2016, but Topps didn't give him RC-logo cards until 2017, so 2017 is his official rookie year. And, as with Mike Trout, his most valuable card is a pre-rookie: the autographed 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft card. In March 2026 its one-of-one Superfractor sold privately for $5.2 million, the most ever paid for a modern baseball card.

How we ranked them

We weighed three things: how iconic the card is to collectors, how scarce it really is (print run, PSA population and gem rate), and what it sells for today. Prices are recent sold results, mostly from the past three months, rounded into ranges. Where a card trades only a few times a year, we give the last public sale or a rounded market value instead. Gem rate is the share of PSA-graded copies that came back a PSA 10. Judge's 2017 cards were printed in huge numbers and grade well, so the scarcity lives in the parallels, short prints and autographs.

What counts as a rookie. His official rookies are 2017 cards with the RC logo: Topps #287, Topps Chrome #169, Bowman Chrome #56, Topps Update #US99, Topps Heritage #214 and the 2017 rookie autographs. The 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft autographs are prospect cards, not rookies. Like Trout's 2009 autographs, they're where the money is, so we ranked the two versions that matter and labeled them clearly. The one-of-one Superfractor is covered under the Gold Refractor rather than ranked on its own, and his unsigned 2013 prospect cards are at the end.

1.2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Pick Autographs Gold Refractor /50 #BCA-AJ (prospect card)

2013 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects (Chrome Draft Pick Autographs)

Recent sales
GradePrice
Orange /25, BGS 10$90,000 (Apr 2025)
BGS 9.5~$52,800 (Jul 2026)
Blue /99, BGS 9.5$45,000 (Aug 2026)
Population:
32 BGS 9.5

Judge's 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft autograph came in a dozen parallels: Refractor, Blue (/99), Green (/75), Gold, Blue Wave and Black Wave (/50 each), Black (/35), Orange (/25), Purple (/10), Red (/5) and a one-of-one Superfractor. The Gold is the color collectors recognize first, and it's the highest rung that still trades with some regularity. A BGS 9.5 sold for $52,800 in July 2026, and a BGS 10 with a 10 autograph last sold for $97,600.

The rest of the ladder shows how deep this market runs. An Orange numbered to 25, one of only four to earn a BGS 10 with a 10 autograph, sold for $90,000 in April 2025, and a Blue numbered to 99 brought $45,000 in BGS 9.5 in August 2026. At the very top, the Superfractor sold through Fanatics Collect in March 2026 for $5.2 million, passing Trout's 2009 Superfractor as the most valuable modern baseball card.

GradePrice
PSA 10$10,000–$10,500
PSA 9~$6,650
Population:
224 PSA 10

The unnumbered base version of Judge's first Bowman Chrome autograph is the card serious Judge collectors build around. It came out the same year the Yankees drafted him, and it pairs his signature with Bowman Chrome, the brand the prospect market trusts most.

A PSA 10 sold for $10,000 in September 2026, in line with a rounded market value of about $10,500, and PSA 9s are valued near $6,650. With only 224 PSA 10s, it's far scarcer in top grade than any of his 2017 base rookies. It isn't an official rookie card, and like Trout's 2009 autograph, that hasn't held it back.

3.2017 Topps #287

2017 Topps Series 1

Recent sales
GradePrice
PSA 10$264–$336
PSA 9$71–$120
Raw~$30
Population:
6,508 PSA 10 · 5,978 PSA 9

Judge's flagship rookie, from 2017 Topps Series 1, shows him making a catch at the wall. It's his most recognizable rookie and the most widely graded, so it ranks first among his official rookie cards. PSA 10s sold for $264 to $336 between July and early October 2026, and a PSA 9 costs about $100.

It's also the base of an enormous parallel ladder: Rainbow Foil, Gold (/2017), Sparkle Foil (/175), Vintage Stock (/99), Black (/66), Mother's Day Hot Pink and Father's Day Powder Blue (/50 each), Memorial Day Camo (/25), Clear (/10) and a Platinum one-of-one, plus photo variations covered below. A Gold has a PSA 10 value near $2,870 and a Black near $3,570, which is where a #287 collector looking for scarcity should start.

4.2017 Topps Chrome #169

2017 Topps Chrome

Recent sales
GradePrice
Refractor, PSA 10$1,025–$1,550
PSA 10$350–$503
PSA 9$153–$241
Population:
8,566 PSA 10 · 1,943 PSA 9

The chrome version of the #287 photo, and the Judge rookie many collectors consider the anchor of his market. PSA 10s have sold for $350 to $503 over the past three months, up about a quarter since July, which puts it consistently above the paper Topps rookie in the same grade.

The Refractor is the logical next step. More than 1,300 have earned a PSA 10, and 32 of them sold between July and early October 2026 for about $1,025 to $1,550. For a collector who wants a chrome Judge rookie with some shine and a little scarcity, it's the best balance of price and liquidity.

5.2017 Topps Chrome Rookie Autographs #RA-AJ

2017 Topps Chrome (Rookie Autographs)

Recent sales
GradePrice
PSA 10$4,965–$7,000
BGS 9.5$4,050–$7,500
PSA 9~$1,600

Judge's key autographed rookie card. It's the signed version of his Topps Chrome rookie, with parallels that include a Refractor (/499), Purple (/250) and Blue (/150). PSA 10s sold for $4,965 to $7,000 between late April and early July 2026, and BGS 9.5s for $4,050 to $7,500 between March and June. The last PSA 9 we found sold for about $1,600 in September 2025.

It ranks well below the 2013 autographs because the market prices first-Bowman signatures higher, but it's an official rookie autograph, which some collectors insist on. Its closest rival is the 2017 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autograph #CRA-AJ, valued near $4,750 in a PSA 10.

6.2017 Bowman Chrome #56

2017 Bowman Chrome

Recent sales
GradePrice
"In Dugout" variation, PSA 10$2,000–$2,200
PSA 10$575–$680
PSA 9~$210

Judge's Bowman Chrome rookie shows him batting, and Bowman Chrome is the set prospect collectors follow most closely. It carries a full refractor ladder: Refractor (/499), Purple (/250), Blue (/150), Green (/99), Gold (/50), Orange (/25) and Red (/5). The base card has a PSA 10 value of about $575, and one tracker put it at $682 in March 2026.

The short-printed "In Dugout" image variation is the version to chase. It's valued at about $2,000 to $2,200 in a PSA 10, three to four times the base card and in the same range as the Purple and Blue refractors. Check the photo before you pay: it shares card #56 with the base.

7.2017 Topps #287 "Bat Under Arm" variation

2017 Topps Series 1

Recent sales
GradePrice
PSA 10~$4,700
PSA 9~$4,500
Raw~$2,700

Topps hid several photo variations of #287 in 2017 packs, including a short print and a much scarcer super-short print. The "Bat Under Arm" version is the hardest of them to find, and by one collector guide's estimate it's around 20 times rarer than the regular short print.

That scarcity is the whole case for it. Even raw copies are valued near $2,700, and graded copies trade only a handful of times a year, with PSA 9s and 10s valued around $4,500 to $4,700. It ranks below the Bowman Chrome rookie because it's thinly traded and harder to price, but it's the true scarcity play among his flagship cards.

8.2017 Topps Update #US99 Rookie Debut

2017 Topps Update

Recent sales
GradePrice
PSA 10$230–$280
PSA 9~$75
Raw~$26

Topps Update gave Judge a Rookie Debut card marking his 2016 arrival, and it's a cheaper alternative to the Series 1 rookie. PSA 10s are valued at about $230, and one tracker had them at $280 in March 2026. Its chrome twin, 2017 Topps Chrome Update #HMT50, costs only a little more.

As with #287, the variations carry the premium. The super-short-print "Bat on Left Shoulder" version of #US99 is valued near $2,570 in a PSA 10 and $1,580 in a PSA 9, and the Rookie Debut Gold parallel is valued near $1,040 in a PSA 10.

Heritage reprints a classic Topps design each year, and in 2017 Judge appeared on a two-player Rookie Stars card with Yankees teammate Tyler Austin. It's the most affordable official Judge rookie on this list and a nice throwback for vintage collectors.

It's also easy to find in top grade: nearly three in four PSA-graded copies are 10s, and PSA 10s sold for $93 to $154 in the spring of 2026. It won't appreciate like his chrome cards, but it's a legitimate rookie for well under $200.

Before the rookies: Judge's 2013 prospect cards

The 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft autographs are ranked above. The rest of his draft-year cards are far cheaper ways into his early career.

  • 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks #BDPP19 — his unsigned first Bowman Chrome card. There are 1,733 PSA 10s, and the last one tracked sold for about $920.
  • 2013 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects (paper) — a cheaper paper version of his draft-year Bowman card.

Which one should you buy?

  • The definitive card: the 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Pick Autograph. A PSA 10 runs about $10,000. For an official rookie, it's 2017 Topps Chrome #169.
  • The scarcity play: the 2017 Topps #287 Bat Under Arm variation, or the 2017 Bowman Chrome In Dugout short print.
  • The best value: a 2017 Topps Chrome #169 Refractor in PSA 10, about $1,000 to $1,550.
  • On a budget: 2017 Topps #287 in PSA 9 (about $100), or a PSA 10 of 2017 Topps Heritage #214 for under $160.

Judge has been a fixture of MLB The Show as well. He has 27 cards across MLB The Show 21 through 26, topping out at 99 overall, including a 2025 All-Star 99, a Topps Now 99 and a 2025 Postseason 99 in MLB The Show 25. See every Aaron Judge card in MLB The Show — the most recent ones are below.
